Hm, it's been a while.

B-Movie on Friday was pretty good; like the old days at Slimelight, only without the shit music hour, the mud, the tin boxes, all the stairs, and bringing your own booze, so not very like it at all, but you know what I mean. I'm definitely looking forward to a repeat performance now most of the bruises have faded, and you are all expected to go if they do manage another.

I recently finished another round of changes to the bike; Nitto Technomic stem and Noodle handlebars (with a very shallow ramp, which was the real motive for this change - more comfortable riding with my hands up near the hoods now), but more significantly bar-end shifter housings, letting me (with a bit of filing) transfer my DT shifters to the bar-ends, where they look quite happy in their new homes. All the bits came from Rivendell in the US - conveniently, I had them shipped to a friend in Boston who I then met at Anime Weekend Atlanta.

AWA was... expensive, as usual. We did a panel on the state of anime in the UK, which didn't go so badly - we did manage to be rude about Mangle Video, Urotsick'n'dodgy, MVM, Kama Sutra, Western Connection, Love Hina, Belldandy, and Fred Gallagher, so all major targets hit. We're off to Aya next month, but that should be a little less frantic.

That's about it. Anime, bikes, and loud music in dark rooms. Not much interest on the beer front recently, alas.

If it's beer you're after, and you're free this weekend, it's the Oxford City CAMRA 2002 Beer Festival this weekend...

Hmmm. Might have a bash at it, but can't promise anything.

It'll get all sticky.

Have you tried consuming beer while riding your bike and watching anime on a portable DVD player?

I'm just curious.

I'm also glad I have no idea what "Urotsick'n'dodgy" is. No, no need to explain. I actually am glad.

But I want to know: why is your bike from Middle Earth?

Not... yet. I could fill the trailer with beer and DVDs to be consumed after stopping, I suppose.

It's not, but the parts from Rivendell are actually mostly from Japan. The name is intentional; they do a singlespeed frame called Quickbeam.
