Rule thirty-six?

Propose rule 36: if you think you can no longer be surprised by smut on the Internet, you are wrong.

Dare we ask what provoked this thought?

[Agreed, though!]

If enough people ask I'll post and you can all go "gosh, that's weird" too.

Was it that site where people post erotic fiction about wrapping Roy Orbison in clingfilm?

No, I'm not kidding. I wish I were kidding.

[identity profile] damerell.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
No. That's (obviously) a new one on me but I can't say I'm _that_ surprised.

I thought rule 36 was "if you can imagine any form of perversion, there is a website about it."

With rule 37 as "If you cannot imagine a form of perversion, there will still be a website about it".

I should have gone backwards to 33, I can hardly be the first person to think of addenda.

[identity profile] hilarityallen.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm slightly surprised that you're surprised. Dare I ask what it is?

[identity profile] damerell.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I do mean "surprised", too, not revulsed or appalled. "Well, I never expected anyone to do *that*. Freaky weird."

[identity profile] hilarityallen.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
This is what's startling me. There are plenty of things where I go 'eewwww, I'd never want to do that', but I'm not surprised that they exist.

OK, I'm curious too. :)

Damn, I should reload my friends page before commenting.

Aww, am I missing out on friends-locked surprising smut?

Pilot error, corrected.

Just a borrowed account.

I'm constantly surprised and, in some cases, delighted by just the smut that can be found in manga. Every time I think that nothing can possibly be more sick than the last sickest thing I saw, don't they just go and do it again only more so.

By the way, didn't get a chance to catch up at Picocon, but apparently you're now back in Cambridge?

Given some of the things people managed to dig up for the AMV Hell series (decapitation porn?), I suspect that Japan may long since have crossed the perversion event horizon. We're just seeing the final, dying echoes as it recedes from view into a whole new universe of smut.

I think I'm inherently less surprised by doujinshi because all it takes is one guy who feels like drawing it and another one who feels like scanning it. Mass-market manga with actual print runs, yeah, but again it's harder to surprise you if you expect just about anything, if you see what I mean.

I moved back in July and I'm in [livejournal.com profile] mobbsy's old place. I found I missed the place.

I'm curious to see this surprising surprise as well now.
