I could see some Logic in including Legolas as he was the son of the king of the Wood elves, but I was annoyed by the repeat of the collapsing stone columns in the dwarven mines, and also by the superhuman swordsmanship of the dwarves in the mines, compared with the trapped up a tree by wolves scene.
The other two had some good scenes here and there, but way way too much padding.
