So here we have a special cheapskate's "where did I meet you" poll. Since I can't remember this stuff I have to discover it, so; we met:

* In a sleazy bar (the Water Rats)
* In a sleazy bar (other)
* In a sleazy club
* At a convention
* In someone's house
* In a Cambridge college
* In Toronto
* Other...

And at the time I was;
* jolly
* pissed
* completely wankered
* inexplicably sober

We met in someone's house. Yours, in fact. In Cambridge.

You were... inexplicably sober I think. At least when we first met. Later on, less so.

I think we met in a Cambridge college; Trinity, Whewell's Court to be precise. I think it was a ground floor room facing Trinity Street, perhaps in 1995? There were many others there, including your then-girlfriend (Samantha? She was wearing white, I recall). I don't remember whether you were drunk at the time; I think I was, however.

You know, I don't recall? But W might, as she was there.

I think it's highly likely y'all were in for a con, and it was almost certainly in/about Chicago, and you were... probably explicably but definitely sober at the time, though if it was in fact at a con you probably got pissed later.

We met in (eek! 1994!!) in a signing queue for whichever Pratchett book was out that November. You were very tired, having been awake for nearly two days, but you were remarkably coherent.

Heh. I don't do real names on LJ, but my initial is J, I used to be in the Studio Theatre Club, and you once 'picked me up' (literally) in the Wheatsheaf. Think that was when you had blue hair. I have a lovely picture of you on the bouncy castle at DWCon96, and I do remember speaking to you then, which is more than I can say for most people I've met since. Google might tell you my name (or

You were: Well, you were going to voluntarily eat Caius hall dinner, so you must have been drunk :)

The first time I recall actually speaking to you was when I saw you in Trinity plodge and bought mead off you. However, I already knew what you looked like, and can't remember how I knew that.

If that counts as meeting you, then you might conceivably have been sober, but you were selling me booze so your piss-artist cred is unthreatened :-)

Since it was at your parents and I am not entirely positive you were of a legal age to drink... I think it is another vote for explicably sober.
