I've just got back from Anime Weekend Atlanta - with a rapidly building cold, but luckily it didn't kick in until the last night of the con.

Certain elements will be pleased to hear I accidentally outed myself _twice_ this weekend in spite of my actual preference for GURLS. US Customs;
"You travelling with anyone?"
"Not on this flight, but my partner is arriving separately."
"Where's he coming from?"

In the Ironcat panel some guy asked about yaoi and yuri and I chirped up saying "and let's have some SMUT, not just Gravitation-style cuddling", and I think Steve Bennett leaped to conclusions rather.

This year I brought proper beer so as not to be hypocritically drinking American beer and bitching about it - instead I just bitched. Monica Rial [1] is surprisingly nice when she's not being her ear-splitting public persona. Matt Greenfield and Robert Woodhead cannot perform marriages, but Jan Frazier can; this may prove relevant at some point.

We did a panel on "Anime on the UK" which was... sparsely attended, but I think the people who did show had a good time.

On the flight back I was surrounded by noisy brats, but lucky me - I walk to the rear only to find Ian Roberts and a spare seat next to him, so I escaped the series of kicks on the back of my seat.

Apparently so. I must be an Australian, or something.

I added you back on the friend list, it's really nice to see that you got home safe and sound! I hope the cold doesn't get you down for long at all, and I hope all is well in The City That Oracle Built.

Oh, now I get it (the notification mail arrived) - you should note that Mozilla here displays everything in plain black on white, and my mail client doesn't do HTML at all, so that kind of didn't work...

Hmm, so does 'partner' still have that connotation, then? I use it all the time... I wonder if there are people out there assuming the same of me :)

Reminds me of American Beauty.

Apparently it does in the USA.

You mean you're not a lesbian? Gosh.

Yes, I know this is a million years old. The old "Revolution Baby" fan pseudomanga does that one. Fortunately it's _by_ Brits and isn't painfully awful.

Matt Greenfield and Robert Woodhead cannot perform marriages, but Jan Frazier can; this may prove relevant at some point.

In MA, anyone over 18 can perform the ceremony, provided they apply and send $25 to the state in advance. You will have to get a blood test/health certificate here before getting a marriage license, but once you have that, you could conceivably have any old crank perform the service. Just, y'know, in case y'all have designs on a trip to Anime Boston.

Right now isn't the time to be asking me, since I'm all enthused about AWA.
