If you don't know who he _is_, skip this one, or have a look at his posting record (warning; contains a lot of naughty words).

You missed out the ticky-box for "Extremely annoying, not worth the effort, taking over UPG, and there ought to be ignored from now on, rather than fed, over and over again, under his bridge".
Seriously, it's got really old now; he's never going to learn, so why bother to keep responding? It was funny at first, now it's just annoying.

Y'know, back in the day, there was a SoM mailing list. Lots of general goth stuff got posted to it, so then there was alt.gothic for all that. Eventually, the S/N got too bad on that (mostly Americans with .edu addresses near the start of the "semester") so then there was uk.people.gothic. Eventually, the S/N got too bad on that, so then there was tarts@darkwave.org.uk. Eventually, the S/N got too bad on that, so then there was barbies@darkwave.org.uk (don't feel bad if you've never heard of that, it was probably before your time). Eventually, the old-skool members of that got bored, and as far as I know barbies has died out too. I unsubbed from it years ago, when I grew out of goth, but to be fair the S/N was never a problem.

So, here we all find ourselves on LiveJournal. How 'bout that?

upg is actually not bad these days; the Varizo-baiting is confined to a few select threads...

Ah, well, this poll is my last ever Varizo-related thing...

I knew there was a reason I stopped bothering with Usenet.

To keep that level of cluelessness going over two years, you *have* to be deriving some sort of strange pleasure from it.

He's almost like an evil B1FF:

"Im sensitiv and i care about things and i apresiate beauty and dont glorrify aggression and uglyness like they do."

6f6f6941.0403191653.2841235b@posting.google.com

It has to be deliberate - although, amazingly enough, he managed to spell 'aggression' correctly; his attention must have wandered for a second.

Either that, or h. sapiens Neanderthalis is alive and well and using AOL.

On further investigation, I'm sure he's putting it on. If you look at CI1s7.1306$H4.174065@news2-win.server.ntlworld.com (from 27/9/2001) he *almost* looks human:

"I often wonder if there *is* life elsewhere in any of the universe; but if its anything like the so-called *human* life on this earth, I dont thing I want to know."

Either he's degenerated into a mewling Epsilon-minus semi-moron freak during the last two years, or he's doing it becuase he gets his jollies by annoying people; specialising in people he thinks ought to be hardcore and unshockable - he's probably a no-life gore fan with a grudge against anyone who he considers isn't 'for real'.

Gideon.

Gah, *autolart* - that second message-id should be

My feelings exactly. I've stopped using usenet due to idiots like this (for another example, see how a poster by the name of Edward Meadows managed to disrupt talk.bizarre in 1995).

Oh, goodness me, the effect on upg has been quite the opposite; we've extracted quite a bit of innocent amusement from him...

TBH, David, I've been impressed by your persistence with both him and Whisky Dave on upg. Have you ever engaged in discussion with Alan Truelove on cam.misc?

Not for any length of time. Varizo's been much more amusing; Truelove just makes one feel vaguely dirty by association.

Well, he did at least raise a few laughts and IIRC persuade a couple of new posters to join us in UPG, so perhaps his bright cloud did have a dark lining after all. LOL for the poll, anyway! :-)

Thanks - although [livejournal.com profile] weds observes that it should be a "festering" ball of dog snot if I intended to quote Weird Al.

I can't answe this, since the library's webfilter thinks:

"The Websense category "Adult Material" is filtered. Keyword found: dyke."

Mmm, senseless homophobia. I can't even do a websearch about a certain Mr Offa.

If you _could_ read it you'd only get more senseless homophobia...
