Haibane Renmei

We just watched the last episode of Abe's Haibane Renmei.

He really has excelled himself this time; Lain and NieA were good, but this is something else. Every now and then I see something, like Utena, which really stands out from all that's gone before; and this is another such show.

ADV have suddenly switched trailer style to the kind with the guy with the HUGE AMERICAN VOICE talking about A WORLD THAT TIME FORGOT (a particular favourite ends a trailer; "GOOD. AND EVIL. IN A FIGHT..." which had us laughing for some time) ... which are, unfortunately, even worse than their previous trailers. They are not alone in this, in that trailers from American anime licensors seem to be near-universally awful.

The awful wind of the last few days has finally died down - this is nice not least because after a week of strong crosswinds and headwinds [1] you find you're actually pretty quick once they go away...

[1] "and tailwinds?" - no such luck.

I must get around to watching the rest of that, having only seen the first episode or two. How much is there?

13, the post-cable "experimental TV series" length - same as Lain and NieA (and Jubei, and a bunch of other stuff) - 4 discs. This works well; a 26-episode run often ends up looking a bit padded.

"Tailwinds" : Absurd Liberal Myth

Despite several years spent cycling, I have never once encountered one of these so-called "tailwinds". Their purported existence is nothing more than an insidious lie peddled by un-patriotic liberal traitors in an attempt to dissuade the Great British public from exercising their God-given right to drive their cars.

"Tailwinds": don't buy into the LIE! Defend your Freedom and drive!
