Aieeee! Sounds like a European Wasp. Get some calamine lotion and antihistamines from the chemist tomorrow. I hope you're feeling better really soon *hug*
To the best of my knowledge, horsefly bites tend more to be like The Attack Of The 50-Foot Mosquito. I'd be betting on a wasp or a hornet. (Hate, hate, hate.)
Little black buggers, typically sub-1mm (a.k.a. thunderflies) - you don't notice them until it's Too Late, but the bloodsucking ones can cause some really quite impressive red marks a good inch across.
If the original impact was actually discernable, it was probably a wasp, bee or hornet. I can't comment on the symptoms of a wasp sting as I've never actually been stung by one.
(30 years! screw you, genus Vespa! You'll never take me alive!)

I'm sure I shall be fine by tomorrow, though, it's just a bit of a pain in the arse - er, tummy - today, and I'm venting to distract myself.

Hope you're feeling rather less pained today.
