But I guess not, assuming there wasn't some confusion over tomorrow.

Interesting plan.

Unfortunately, participating would have necessitated waking up before 1pm.

I think it's very unfair of you and [livejournal.com profile] ceb to arrange to be out of Cambridge on the same day.

Damn. In Cambridge, yes; awake, not in time to read LiveJournal. Sorry!

Well, even if I've only just read this, I managed lunch at the Carlton (eventually). Even if we were doing the cute-couple-in-a-world-of-their-own thing and snubbing your party. (I don't know what the done thing to do is in such a situation.)

Does the done thing even impinge on reality if you're being a cute couple? :-)

I think I might suggest "say hello and explain" but we figured it out anyway. No worries.

Aha. I don't know if you know that there was a change of landlord - now a local CAMRA-type couple run it. I was never in before then, but it's very good now.

yeah, i went in there a couple of months ago and met the new couple. i used to work for hugh and isabelle. and yes, all the rumours you will hear are true!!

they also do food now, which is something that they never did. they must have sorted the kitchen out!!

Yes - I gather they're really turned it around. Certainly it's got one of the better beer selections in Cambridge.

I wasn't sure how going all non-smoking would work out but it seems to be OK.

better move, if you ask me!!

there's some great little pubs that do great beer also down the other end of town, mill rd etc. bit far if you fancy a pint!!

Actually I live in Bracknell so it doesn't make a lot of difference. :-)
