They are astonishingly dorky for something Freddie Mercury used to wear. Admittedly, mine are not gold lame. Much more popular with male cyclists, the reason being obvious when you consider the logistics of having a pee in them.

I ride in the centre of Cambridge with the taxi drivers. Don't worry about the relatively trivial danger of frozen rivers. :-(
