This link is a bit scary:

This link is extremely cool (but nerdy!):

This link is nerdy:

It may help to know she normally looks like this:

If you are very nerdy, what's best looking (I'd do a poll, but this is so much a snowflake question):

LMS Princess Coronation, unstreamlined?
Ditto, but streamlined?
An A4 in LNER blue?
An A4 in BR blue?
An A4 in another colour or with side skirts on (you freak!)?
A Merchant Navy, streamlined (now you are very weird)?
A Merchant Navy, unstreamlined?
A fast GWR 4-6-0 (pick your own)?
A Britannia?
A 9F without dirt on it?
An A3 without odd-looking smoke deflectors?
A Peppercorn A1?
Something else, if you must?

Princess Coronation, streamlined. Despite the fact the streamlining made them go slower.

I was wondering if anyone would pick that. Personally, I think they look very weird, and the unstreamlined Duchesses are probably my pick. I think the A4s are really the only engines the streamlining looks well on.

That first video is great! I was kind of hoping it would get left half-way suspended, presenting a headache for whoever comes along to tidy up.

Mmmm. I can't decide if the operator is very clever or very stupid, or both.

I think A4s in LNER blue take a lot of beating, although any colour is good, except for silver.

Oh, and Peppercorns get an honourable mention for the existence of Tornado.

I have to admit, I don't actually like Tornado's current paintjob as much as I could. As with the blue for the A4, I prefer darker colours.

Much as I love streamlined Coronations and A4s, the GWR King class is the quintessential steam loco. Years ahead of their time, and capable of taking on any of the 4-6-2s.

Then again, I prefer Napier Deltics to all of the above; best thing to come out of Newton-le-Willows since direct railway services to Yorkshire. Am I weird for liking big diesels?

"Coughs and sneezles spread diseasels".

The Deltic is an impressive piece of kit, but really I feel we might have gone straight from steam to electric traction and as such it shouldn't have been built.

A4 - and looking at this: http://www.railpictures.net/images/d1/6/7/2/2672.1215501197.jpg I think I agree that BR blue is better. The green is kinda cool too though.

I did consider the green as well, but the non-poll has a fairly flagrant Gresley bias as it is...
