Also, anyone who's read Weber's Honor Harrington books - in between vomiting up your skull at his politics, has it struck you that she is a Mary-Sue?

Yes, it had struck me. Though I don't give a f(*& about the politics, space ships go BOOM!

I like the BOOM bits. If he'd taken another leaf out of C.S. Forester's book and written an apolitical protagonist I'd be a lot happier.
