I can't think of anything even close. I'm not counting cyber-naff songs like the Dreamies "Netropolis"; I want stuff that reflects a genuine geeky interest in the subject matter. Who'd _call_ 4472 "4472" except a geek? :-)
I love the Dream Disciples. If there's one band who've split up I wish would reform, it's the Dream Disciples.
I loved them when they were in frilly shirts playing the first gig I ever went to, when they sounded like the Mission might if they were Scottish and weren't trying to be the Sisters (this is circa In Amber). I still loved them when they were playing their last ever gig, at Whitby - hell, I broke my Whitby duck because it was the Dreamies' last gig - and were pretty much playing straight-up heavy rock for all that the audience were goths. I love "how can I drive with your cock in my ear" and "if ye canna bring it down with a crossbow it's no' worth eating" and "let's get Satan on the road, boys" and especially Care Of The Devil (but all the songs about Christianity) and (of Sweet Dreams) "by the way, we had it before that wanker."
But, nevertheless, Netropolis has some cringeworthy lyrics.
TBH, I still have massive sympathy for their very early days. "Aradia" is one of my favourite tracks ever. And I like their obvious Marillion fandom. But I think they probably stopped while it was still fun, which was a good thing to do. I saw them live a fair few times, but never enough.
So do I! I still listen to "Veil of Tears" and "In Amber". I can think of other bands who've run as long who've never done a duff album - but they're a small minority.
"Forget the arrangements for her funeral; we'll use the money to buy everyone in Scotland a shovel and they'll dig a hole deep enough to send her back"?
I just wish there were slightly more of us left who'd sooner fellate a chainsaw than vote Tory. Christ, how fast do people forget?

Hm, shall ponder further. Depends what interest you're looking for, I think; plenty of geeky interest in eg gothick literature.

If they did a reunion tour I'd be so there.
PS also they hated Thatcher which never hurts.
